Thursday July 9, 2009: Sullivan Striders Run/Walk - Alternate Location 5:30pm-5:45pm. Come run some trails at Sams Point on Thursday July 9. Meet at 6:00. Lots of breath taking views of the Gunks. All are welcome back to Macs & Abbys afterwards for food & good times. Directions from Sullivan County; take exit 112, go through Wurtsboro & at the top of the hill go left on Horton Rd( right past where you come out from the Roosa Gap Run)Take Horton Rd to stop sign & turn left on Roosa Gap Rd. 3 1/2 miles to y in the road- bear left. At stop sign right on Pleasant valley Rd. Follow to Rt 52(about 1 1/2 miles). Left on 52. Go about 2 miles & left on Cragsmoor Rd. Sunday July 12, 2009: The Catskill Mt. Prelude 50K Relay Pre-registration begins at 7:30, race at 8:30am Hanofee Park - Sunset Lake Road(Infirmary Road)- Liberty, NY. To register, just email Abby Billias at abillias@in4web.com or Nancy Figoura at nancyf@federalrefundcheck.com. Give them the name of your team and the number of people (2-5)on it. You can even come with a super team of 10, each doing 5K with the course being marked every 5K. Each team is self supporting (Water, Gatorade, etc.) on the course. Entry fee is $10.00 (no shirt) with a great lunch included at Hanofee Park after the race. Printable registration form in Adobe(PDF) format. Most teams will finish around 2:00pm the latest which will give us plenty of party time afterwards. Everyone is invited to hang out at Hanofee Park afterwards to take advantage of their facilities including a great swimming pool. Saturday July 18, 2009: 3rd Annual ORC 2.5 Mile Walk Party 9:45am at Fancher-Davidge Park - Lake Avenue - Middletown, NY. Entry fee is $13.00 postmarked by July 12th, $18.00 thereafter and day of the walk. This is a fun, non competitive all walking event with souvenir bandanas provided to all participants. Thursday August 6, 2009: Alternate Striders Club Run from Holiday Mt. Edwards Rd - Bridgeville, NY. During the Summer we meet the first Thursday of each month at Holiday Mt. parking lot at 5:30pm and take off at 5:45pm. Distances vary from 3K(USATF certified) to 4 or 5 miles on one beautiful road along the famous Neversink River Google Map for Holiday Mt. Thursday August 6, 2009: Locust Grove Summer Trail Race 5K 6:00pm Samual Morse Historic Site -2683 South Road Poughkeepsie, New York 12601. A race to benefit Locust Grove, the Samuel Morse Historic Site. The scenic, all-trail course winds along carriage roads overlooking the Hudson. Fresh flowers from the site greenhouse and gardens will be awarded to the top three runners in all men's and women's divisions. Refreshments and dinner served to all registered runners. Saturday August 15, 2009: Run 4 Downtown 4 Miler at 9:00am to benefit the City of Middletown BID to help restore Middletown's Downtown Business District to its vibrant past. Start & finish: Franklin Square near corner of North & South Streets, East Main & West Main Streets, Middletown, NY. Unique challenge: $350 total prize money to first three runners. Female runners will be given a head start over male runners equal to the difference in the average finishing time for the top three males in 2006 and the average finishing time for the top three women in 2006. Our address is: Sullivan Striders - PO Box 702 Rock Hill NY 12775. There will be course spotters on the USATF Certified (Guaranteed Accurate) Course #NY-07073-JG. Split points are marked at 1km, 1.5km (1500 meters, which is the turnaround point) and 2km. Saturday September 19, 2009: 6th Annual James C Burns III Memorial 5K Run/Walk 9:00am Kids race at 9:45am Milford Ball Park - Milford, PA. James C Burns was a local scout master in Milford, PA who passed away in 2001. His family initiated this event to raise money for a scholarship awarded each year to a deserving high school senior. In 2007, two $1000 scholarships were given out. Since James and his son are both veterans, there is also a contribution to The Wounded Warrior Project. T-Shirts to all participants that are pre-registered. The race will be at the Orange County Park near Montgomery NY on State Route 416. Sunday October 11, 2009: 14th Annual Steamtown Marathon The Steamtown Marathon is a USATF-certified (PA 97033 WB) event. The course features a full net elevation drop of 955'. The race starts at 8:00 a.m. at the Forest City High School (100 Susquehanna Street, Forest City, PA 18421) and finishes at Courthouse Square in beautiful Downtown Scranton (209 N. Washington Avenue, Scranton, PA, 18503). 2008 results. Directions from Website There will be credit towards Ironman status for anyone who runs and proves they completed the Steamtown Marathon in place of Tri-State which is being run on the same day after a date change for the Tri-State 10K. Sunday, November 1, 2009: Cornwall Lions Club 2nd Annual Fall Harvest 5K and (New) 7.5 Mile Scenic Challenge in the beautiful Village of Cornwall. Race-day registration 10:30am - 11:30am at the Storm King Engine Co. #2, 201 Hudson Street, Cornwall-On-Hudson, NY. 7.5 Mile Start: 12:00 pm (cash prizes to top 3 Males / Females and awards to age groups 10 and over); 5K Walk Start: 12:30 pm; 5K Run Start: 12:45 pm (5K awards to top 3 walkers, top overall Male / Female and top 3 in each age group 10+) Kids’ÄôˆÑˆ¥ Fun Run (9 and under) at 2:00 pm (awards to all/no shirts).
