Old Business -
Holiday Party was a huge
success. Everyone had a great time. Having the
party later in January was a great idea –everyone felt
like they could enjoy it more as the stress of the
holidays were behind them.
Great discussion with
regards to the upcoming InterClub Challenge to be held
April 17th, hosted by ORC. ORC
has to pay a $300 fee for the rental of the hall and
Striders voted and approved to give them $100 for our
club’s share. This was done with the hope of keeping
the registration at $5 and not have to see it raised to
$10.
Discussed doing a NYRR
race on April 23rd. Nancy W. will email
information to Kim Klemen who will get the information out
to everyone and we can decide if we want to do the run.
Myriam gave update for
the CLHM – need volunteers – anyone who can help let
Myriam or Kathleen Rifkin know. Registrations have
seemed to slow down with the winter being so rough but
should still have over 400 runners. The club has
purchased a plaque on the Motivational Mile in memory of
Herby Waterman. The club also made a $250 donation
to the race.
Wurtsboro 30k is at about
50 registrations to date. Everything going
well. It was decided that the club might need to
rent a port a potty for the event. Volunteers are
also needed for this race.
Hojo is getting together
information to put together a bowling night at either
Kiamesha Lanes or Middletown. More info to come.
New Business - The
race director of the Ragnar Relay would like to meet with
the Striders to discuss an upcoming event in Sullivan
County. There will be a special Strider meeting next
Thursday, March 3rd at Vino’s at 7:30. We
have extended an invitation to ORC to attend this
meeting.
Brian
Cavanaugh
and
Dennis
Toscano discussed the races that we post on our web site
and the work involved. It was voted on and agreed that we
would set a 75 mile radius limit to races we will post.
Congratulations to all the Striders that took medals at
this year’s Herby Waterman Winter Series. WooWoo

Old Business -
Everything is set for the Holiday Party which will be on
Sat. Jan 29th. Some help is needed to set up about 2
pm. Nancy Figueroa has the list of food being
brought. It was decided to order some wraps also.
Newsletter replacement –
Myriam repeated that they would like to have someone
volunteer for each issue to help Joe F. gather the
information. A different person each issue is
fine. It was discussed putting out a questionnaire in
a future issue to see what the members would like from their
club. Nothing was decided. Also discussed doing
an article highlighting a runner interviewed by a club
member. Nothing final decided there.
New Business -
Interclub Challenge
– April 17th OC Park. Will be a fundraiser for
Autism. $5 fee to run but can give extra if you would
like.
Discussed doing a NYRR race
in Central Park. One possible date is April 23rd doing
the Run As One (4M). Also discussed doing some other
activities like bowling, rafting – nothing decided but
information being gathered.
We gave $250 to the
Federation for the Homeless on Thanksgiving and also
volunteered to help with the serving of the Thanksgiving
Meal. One of the needs the Federation has is
transporting people to the meal. Something to be considered
in the future.
Forestburgh 5K is set for
August 20th. Is a problem for those doing the HVGP as
that is the same day as the Run 4 Downtown race in
Middletown but it couldn’t be moved as that is Forestburgh
Day and they want to do the race as part of the activities
of the day.
Myriam discussed CLHM,
participation could be higher than ever – expecting over
700. They are doing a Motivational Mile this year for
anyone to honor someone who has dealt with cancer. The
club will purchase a sign for honor Herby Waterman.
Myriam also discussed the
Wurtsboro 30k briefly. Approx. 30 are registered
to date.
John Finnigan and Cliff
Davis discussed the Hudson Valley Grand Prix. They
explained age group awards and also explained the Elite
category. They explained how races are chosen – how
the schedule will change year to year – races are dropped –
picked back up – all to keep the HVGP series interesting and
challenging. At registration this year they had a
survey for everyone to fill out to get feedback as to the
races that the runners like/dislike etc.
