Land ownership:

Unless otherwise stated, all trails mentioned and shown on this web site and its maps are are on public lands. These lands are administered by officials you can talk to.

The D & H Canal Linear Park is on public land administered by Sullivan County.

Basha Kill Rail Trail (Long Path) is on state-owned land administered by the New York State Dept of Conservation (NYSDEC: 914-256-3000) Division of Fish and Wildlife.

The Neversink Gorge trails are on state-owned land administered by the NYSDEC Division of Lands and Forests.

West of the Neversink Gorge, the NYSDEC administers some of the Rail Trail going north toward Monticello. A private landowner had once offered to donate 3.5 miles of land for a trail connecting the state lands in the Neversink Gorge north to the Town of Thompson-owned Holiday Mountain Ski Area, but this potential arrangement fell through. Trails can be built for cross-country skiing, mountain biking, trail running, hiking, and other nature purposes.
